Forgetting Mom Forgetting

This is a picture of my lovely mother, back during World War II days.  My father was in the U.S. Navy, stationed in the Pacific, and she was living, like so many other women, in a small apartment and working at a job that passed the time during the days until her man came back from the war.  Isn't she beautiful? She worked very hard at being a mom to the 3 of kids, and taking care of her husband, kind of like Archie and Edith Bunker were - house always clean, a yummy hot dinner on the table each evening and clean clothes to wear.  But my dad was not as silly as Archie, as I remember, and not as surly and overbearing either.  We had the typical 50's and 60's Leave-it-to-Beaver family.  Life was good.

But that's not all - I also want to make this a place in which I honor my Mom's life, before and after Alzheimer's took her down, and my being her caregiver during those sad days. Hopefully, those who find themselves in the same position will join in and share their experiences, or perhaps find help here with a problem. You will find support and caring here.  This will be a warm and sharing place for such serious problems, but I'd also like to have some fun swapping jokes, recipes, maybe a favorite crochet or knitting pattern (my favorite hobby) and anything else that might be on your mind as you journey along. Oh, and pets and kids, too - SEND PICTURES!  We can never have too many friends.
